Georgian Forks with a Rare Anchor Engraving


These Georgian sterling silver table forks are fully hallmarked and are in great condition for their age. They were made by the renound London silversmith Jonathan Hayne in 1825. 



They have an impressive engraving of an anchor on the handle of each fork, which I believe to be the family crest of the historic grey family.

The forks are fully hallmarked and weigh about 142 gms. The hallmarks include the George IV duty mark, the date letter "k", the London leopard, the lion passant and the maker's mark (JH). 

They have patina commensurate with items of this age (knife marks on the forks' tines - as shown below).
